The Tennessee Department of Health has sent notices to doctors in DeKalb County because the local utility district has voted not to include fluoride in the water treatment process.

The DeKalb Utility District board reportedly voted unanimously to exclude fluoride from the process at its new plant. The utility reportedly mailed notices out with bills before the vote and four customers responded, asking that fluoride be excluded.

The Tennessee Department of Health then sent out notices to doctors in the county, explaining that children may not receive enough fluoride to prevent tooth decay.
