Taber town council gave first and second readings at its June 13 meeting to Bylaw 2-2011, which would repeal Fluoridation Bylaw 1728, in essence taking fluoride out of the town’s drinking water as it looks at its Water Treatment Plant upgrade.
Coun.(s) Randy Sparks, Rick Popadynetz, Garth Bekkering and Murray Rochelle voted in favour of the motion of the first two readings of the bylaw, while Coun. Louie Tams and Mayor Ray Bryant opposed. Because unanimous consent is needed to give first to third readings of the bylaw in one sitting, third and final reading of the bylaw will not be done until town council’s next meeting on June 27.
