MILFORD — The Delaware Valley School Board welcomes back former board member Sue Casey, who will be filling the vacancy left by the resignation of Diane French.

French submitted her resignation in December, saying she was leaving the board for personal reasons.

Two applicants were nominated by the board. Jessica Adler Decker, director of Milford’s Sunshine Station, was nominated in addition to Casey. Six votes went to Casey, while two members, Pam Lufty and Zachary Pearce, voted for Parker.

Casey was appointed to the board on Jan. 3 and sworn in on Jan. 11.

During her previous tenure, from 1995 to 2011, Casey supported land purchases to build a new elementary school in Milford Township. Casey also believed that the school district’s now-discontinued fluoride tablet program contradicted the school’s drug policy and aggressively pushed to rescind the dispensation of fluoride tablets to students, ending the program in 2010.

The candidate who wins the seat in the next election will have a two year commitment.
