Despite not receiving at least 50% of its fluoride surveys back the Southern Downs Regional Council has today voted to remove fluoride from town water supplies.
A report to today’s council meeting in Stanthorpe shows only 25% of Warwick water ratepayers and 31% of those in Stanthorpe returned a recent survey asking if fluoride should be removed from urban water supplies.
The original council resolution was to rule the survey invalid if less than half were returned.
Some water ratepayers have claimed to have not received the controversial survey, which cost council $10,000. Others have said it should have been sent to all residents of the region.
Today’s decision means fluoride will be removed from urban water supplies in Warwick, Stanthorpe, Allora and Yangan.
