Residents can now provide input into the fluoridation of the City’s water supply.

An e-mail address and short online survey are available to residents who can send their thoughts to fluoride@williamslake.ca or visit www.surveymonkey.com/s/williamslake_fluoride_survey

The City has provided additional information on water fluoridation on its website at www.williamslake.ca/fluoride.

A report from the City’s Water Advisory Committee recommended that the municipality investigate whether the City should officially discontinue injecting fluoride into the water system (fluoride is currently not being injected into the water system).

In order to discontinue fluoridation, the Fluoride bylaw passed in 1969 by referendum, must be repealed either by referendum or by ministerial order. The City is currently embarking on a public consultation strategy to inform residents about fluoridation prior to a referendum in November or an application to the provincial Minister of Health.

Additional public consultation is expected to begin in late September.
