Windsor approves anti-fluoride bylaw
Windsor city council on Monday night held its second recorded vote in a week to formalize its decision made to remove fluoride from the city’s drinking water.
“Bylaw 20-2013, a bylaw to discontinue the fluoridation system in Windsor,” passed again by the same 8-3 margin as the Jan. 28 vote that followed a nearly six-hour debate.
The council majority’s vote went against the opposition of most dental and health authorities who spoke out on the matter.
The Windsor Utilities Commission is expected to end fluoridation later this spring for Windsor, LaSalle and Tecumseh.
