Wynne to receive $4.5M for wastewater treatment plant improvements

WYNNE — The City of Wynne will finally receive the $4.5 million earmarked for improvements to the Wynne wastewater treatment plant.

The funding, backed by Senator John Boozman, was part of Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations bills approved by Congress.

The purpose of the funding is to provide a direct injection of fluoride and chlorine into the wells at the wastewater treatment plant in the event of another tornado.

The wastewater treatment plant was destroyed in the March 31, 2023, tornado. Construction is underway on the site with a completion date in the spring of 2027.
