An Austin activist group continues a hunger strike that will remain ongoing until the Austin City Council responds to their request to end water fluoridation in the city’s water supply.

Currently members Jason Needham and Nicholas Lucier are the public faces for the Austin Fluoride Hunger Strike, working to bring attention to the issue by remaining in place outside Austin City Hall.

The goal is to see fluoridation end by January 23rd. If not, the group plans to move forward with a “home rule” petition, in which 20,000 signatures from registered voters will be gathered to place the measure on the November ballot.
