Austin: Fluoridationists can be wacky, too

Reader comment to Fluoridation Under the Microscope

Organized dentistry is behind virtually every fluoridation initiative. Fluoridation is their political battle. Most dentists are fluoridationists and/or support their trade unions which instigate and defend fluoridation.

Every day I read dentistry articles. There are dentists who murder, rape, commit Medicaid fraud, do and sell drugs. A Florida dentist recently convicted of a DUI killed someone. There was that female dentist who “accidentally” ran over her husband three times because he was cheating on her.

80% of dentists refuse to treat Medicaid patients leaving at least two US children to die from the consequences of untreated tooth decay and our emergency rooms flooded with people seeking dental care they can’t get elsewhere at taxpayers’ expense.

Yet, we don’t paint the whole dental profession by these extremists. We would hope you don’t do the same with those opposed to fluoridation who get passionate when they know they are forced to consume a drug that’s unhealthy – just to satisfy the politics of organized dentistry and the legislators who feed off them and other special interest groups.

The bottom line is that there is no valid science indicating that ingesting fluoride reduces tooth decay. There is loads of scientific data showing that ingesting fluoride can be detrimental to health making fluoridation a huge waste of taxpayers’ money.

The dental profession will now be heavily lobbying the Austin City Council to keep fluoridation. They even might force dental students and employees to show up. They’ve done this in other states. It’s really important for Austin residents to stand up for themselves and demand that their water supply be taken back from the special interest groups.
