April 16, 1955:

Dentists of Alberta reaffirmed their support of a fluoridation program for communal water supplies throughout the province when they met Friday at the annual meeting of the Alberta Dental Association, held at the Palliser Hotel.

Their statement, which follows, is in line with support of fluoridation given by the Canadian Dental Association:

“Although we unequivocally recommend . . . fluoridation . . . as a safe and effective measure in reducing dental decay, it would be contravening one of our main professional codes to even attempt to force fluoridation on the public.”
