Manchester Water District considers survey on fluoride

A quiet debate over fluoride in Manchester’s water supply continues, two months after opponents of the supplement asked for its removal.

… The water district commissioners on Tuesday took no action but indicated they might consider a survey of ratepayers. A survey in 1994 showed water district residents 6 to 1 in favor of continuing fluoridation.

… The Manchester Water District’s water supply contains 0.02 parts per million of naturally occurring fluoride. Sodium fluoride is added to increase the level to 1.0 ppm, the current level recommended by the state Department of Health. About 65 percent of Washington state’s water systems are fluoridated…
