  • FAN’s Translation Project

Overview To help promote greater scientific and medical understanding about fluoride’s impact on human health, particularly its effect on the brain, the Fluoride Action Network regularly accesses and translates studies published in non-English language journals. Prior to being translated, most of these studies had never been available to western audiences and were therefore rarely considered […]

  • Minnesota: New fears of 3M chemicals

3M chemicals in human blood are linked to high cholesterol levels, according to three studies published in the past three weeks. The research, conducted nationally and in West Virginia, is part of mounting evidence about health effects from the Scotchgard-type chemicals that have been detected in the groundwater in the east metro area. At the […]

  • Biomonitoring of metals and trace elements in urine of central Ethiopian populations.

2.1. Study population A total of 386 individuals (10 to 50 years old) were enrolled from 27 rural communities during two sampling periods (June 2015 and May 2016) (Figure 1). Based on extensive prior work conducted to characterize the range of F– levels in community water sources in the Ethiopian Rift Valley region, communities covering […]

  • NRC downplays threat from nuclear material missing in South Carolina

This Wednesday, July 9, staff with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a meeting in Atlanta with officials from the Westinghouse Nuclear Fuels Plant in Columbia, S.C. to discuss nuclear materials that went missing back in February. The meeting will be open to the public for observation. On Feb. 11, personnel at the Westinghouse plant […]

  • Fluoride induces apoptosis and autophagy through the IL-17 signaling pathway in mice hepatocytes.

Excerpts: Apoptosis, characterized by nuclear fragmentation, chromatic condensation, and caspase activation, is a major molecular mechanism to eliminate cells (Oropesa-.vila et al. 2017 ). Apoptosis is observed widely in liver diseases (Cui et al. 2018 ; Potz et al. 2016 ). Fluoride, as an exogenous toxicant, has been reported to cause apoptosis in the liver […]

  • Fluoride & IQ: 76 Studies

Note: See the Updated list of fluoride IQ studies at https://fluoridealert.org/researchers/fluoride-iq-studies/the-fluoride-iq-studies/ • As of July 18, 2022, a total of 85 human studies have investigated the relationship between fluoride and human intelligence. • Of these investigations, 76 studies have reported that elevated fluoride exposure is associated with reduced IQ in humans. • The studies which […]

  • Fluoride’s Effect on Male Reproductive System: Animal Studies

Over 60 studies on animals (including rats, mice, roosters, and rabbits) have found that fluoride adversely impacts the male reproductive system. These studies have repeatedly found the following effects: (1) decreases in testosterone levels; (2) reduced sperm motility; (3) altered sperm morphology; (4) reduced sperm quantity; (5) increased oxidative stress; (6) and reduced capacity to breed.

  • Las Virgenes: Meeting on fluoride leaves a bad taste

The Las Virgenes Municipal Water District (LVMWD) said it wants to close the debate on whether mandated water fluoridation in California is dangerous for consumers, but opponents of the additive have pledged to continue their battle to overturn the fluoridation law that became effective in the state almost a year ago. The water district invited […]
