Look for yet another debate over fluoride in the water.
The issue is on the agenda for the April 12 meeting of the Citizens Advisory Committee for the Emerald Coast Utilities Authority, which provides drinking water for most of Escambia County.
ECUA member Elizabeth Campbell opposes fluoride, commonly used nationwide. The element is proven to improve dental health, but opponents fear it can cause cancer.
Pensacolians and fluoride go way back. In the 1950s, the City of Pensacola put fluoride in its water, only to remove it two years later. In 2000, dentists convinced the ECUA to once again add it to the water.
