It is that time of the year again when the Fluoride Action Network spends the month of December raising funds for next year’s work. This is always crucial for us but moreso now than ever with a new executive director (Michael Connett, JD) in place. We have exciting plans in the works for 2016 that will be outlined in a bulletin next week. FAN is thinking big and we are going to need as much support as possible to raise additional funds to make these projects possible. Our fundraising goal this year is $200,000 from 1500 donors by midnight PT Dec 31! Those are daunting totals for us BUT no more daunting than the formidable task of trying to end water fluoridation worldwide!

A very generous donor has got us off to a cracking start by pledging to match any donation – large or small – up to a total of $5000. So any donation you make today (and maybe tomorrow will be doubled).
As per usual we are going to make this fundraising effort as enjoyable and informative as we can.
Let’s start with some fun. Two years ago we came up with the idea of deck of playing cards that spelled out the 52 arguments (plus 2 jokers) against fluoridation. The message was that “Fluoridation is a House of Cards Waiting to Fall and you can play a hand in its downfall!” People loved this idea and we distributed dozens of packs in time for the holiday season.
It’s time for another deck and this time we need your help creating it. All you need is a smart phone or a camera. All you have to do is to take a photo of your child (or grandchild) either drinking a glass or water or holding a glass of water. Try to get as much of your child’s face in the shot. We hope to get 52 high quality pictures of children drinking water (they will only be identified by first name). This time the message on the back of the cards will read:
“Do you really want these children drinking a neurotoxic chemical? 52 beautiful reasons to end the outdated and harmful practice of fluoridation.”
I am afraid this idea came to us rather late. If we move fast we should have this deck of cards in hand before the end of the fundraiser. Meanwhile, if you wish to participate in this “FAN team production” please send us a photo of your child electronically (i.e. as a jpeg file (no hard copies please) as soon as you can. We will also need your permission to use your child’s image in this way and to do this sign the attached statement and send a photo of the following statement with your signature on it as a second jpeg file. Please send to info@fluoridealert.org
