Hydrogen fluoride is nasty stuff, and so when a cleanup worker’s personal monitor for HF went off inside the K-27 facility on Tuesday it created a bit of a stir.

The situation was complicated by the fact that an emergency-response drill was being staged nearby at the former uranium-enrichment site that’s now known as the East Tennessee Technology Park.
