Les citoyens de Richmond votent pour l’arrêt de la fluoration

C’est dimanche qu’avait lieu la consultation publique sur la fluoration de l’eau potable à Richmond.  C’est historique puisque c’est la première consultation publique ou référendum par laquelle la population est appelée à se prononcer et rejette la fluoration.  Le résultat de cette consultation est la résultante d’un travail inlassable depuis presque trois ans d’un groupe de citoyens, principalement de jeunes mères de famille,  préoccupées par la santé de leurs enfants.

Le Regroupement de citoyens a réussi dans un premier temps à obtenir une commission parlementaire sur la fluoration. Les conclusions des parlementaires, bien que toujours favorable à la fluoration, précisaient par contre, qu’il fallait l’acceptabilité sociale avant de procéder à l’installation d’un système de fluoration et de ne pas rendre obligatoire la fluoration à travers le Québec tel que le recommandait la Direction de la Santé publique. Le gouvernement laissait aux municipalités le choix de fluorer ou non.

Le fait que la population ait rejeté à 76% la fluoration malgré qu’elle  se voie imposer une pénalité de 127,000$ démontre clairement que l’acceptabilité sociale n’est pas au rendez-vous lorsque la population reçoit l’information autant des promoteurs que des opposants à la fluoration. Nous remercions d’ailleurs les médias qui se sont intéressés au dossier de la fluoration et qui ont offert une couverture bien équilibrée.

Le gouvernement devra prendre bonne note du manque d’acceptabilité sociale de cette mesure. De plus en plus de comités de citoyens opposés à la fluoration émergent au Québec, au Canada et à travers la planète et mettent à rude épreuve le dogme de la fluoration.

Le Regroupement tient à remercier le Réseau sans fluor, la Coalition Eau Secours, le Front commun pour une eau saine, le CREE, les Amis de la terre du Val-Saint-François ainsi que les autres groupes citoyens qui déploient beaucoup d’efforts pour mettre fin à la fluoration de leur eau potable.  Il remercie chaleureusement tous les citoyens qui se sont mobilisés et qui ont voté, c’est la démocratie qui a parlé.

Le regroupement veut  souligner l’ouverture du conseil municipal d’avoir permis cet exercice contrastant avec les méthodes en catimini employées par la Santé publique pour instaurer la fluoration dans les municipalités du Québec. Cette conclusion permet de mettre en évidence que lorsque des citoyens décident de s’impliquer, il est possible d’avoir des répercussions positives dans son milieu et de voir des changements.

It is on Sunday that had held the public consultation on the fluoridation of drinking water to Richmond. It is historic because it is the first public consultation or referendum by which the population is called upon to pronounce, and rejects the fluorination. The result of this consultation is the resultant of a tireless work since almost three years ago a group of citizens, mainly of young mothers, concerned about the health of their children.

The grouping of citizens has succeeded in a first time to obtain a parliamentary commission on the fluorination. The conclusions of the parliamentarians, although still in favor of the fluorination reaction, stated by against, that he needed the social acceptability before proceeding with the installation of a system of fluorination and does not make mandatory the fluorination reaction across Quebec as was recommended by the Public Health Directorate.

The fact that the population has rejected to 76% fluoridation despite that it is track impose a penalty of $127.000 clearly demonstrates that social acceptability is not the appointment when the population receives information as much of the proponents of opponents to the fluorination. The government will have to take good note of the lack of social acceptability of this measure. More and more committees of citizens opposed to the fluorination are emerging in Quebec, in Canada and around the globe, and are straining the dogma of the fluorination.

The Grouping wishes to thank the network without fluorine, the Coalition Water relief, the common front for a healthy water, the CREATED, Friends of the earth of the du Val-Saint -FRANçois as well as the other groups citizens who deploy a lot of efforts to put an end to the fluoridation of their drinking water. He warmly thanked all the citizens who are mobilized and who voted, it is democracy that has talked about.

The grouping wants to emphasize the opening of the municipal council for having allowed this exercise contrasting with the methods on the sly employed by public health to establish the fluorination in the municipalities of Quebec. This conclusion allows you to highlight that when citizens decide to become involved, it is possible to have a positive impact on its environment and to see the changes.
