A public hearing to discuss whether or not the town should remove fluoride from the town’s drinking water is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 25, during the regularly scheduled selectmen’s meeting.

Although the town has added fluoride to the water supply since 1970, Bethel business owner Sarah Lane recently brought evidence of health risks before the selectmen and asked for them to organize a town vote on whether to stop using it in the drinking water.

Lane, who is not a resident of Bethel, said there is evidence of fluoride being linked to brain damage.

Selectmen voted June 30 to schedule a Sept. 8 town meeting to decide on the matter.

Among the other items on the agenda for Monday’s meeting are:

* Discussion on Bingham Forest memorandum of understanding and easements.

* Resignation of Hiram E. Towle from the Airport Authority Committee.

* Board of Selectmen election of officers.
