Galway County Council is being urged to seek clarification from the government on the health risks of fluoridation of the public water supply.
Athenry-Oranmore councillor Jim Cuddy says that in 2007, the Dáil Committee on Health expressed serious reservations about flouridation [sic].
He says one of the recommendations at the time was that putting fluoride into public water supplies was not good for childrens’ teeth.
The issue was raised at this week’s meeting of Galway County Council, where Councillor Cuddy asked that the council seeks clarification from the government on the matter.
A report will be brought before councillors at their next meeting.
