Members of the Mebane City Council on Monday opted to keep fluoride in the city’s drinking water.

Because Mebane shares a water plant with Graham, the decision means Graham residents will also keep drinking fluoridated water.

The unanimous vote by Mebane council members came during their monthly meeting and followed a fair amount of discussion. Seven people — four dentists, included — spoke about fluoridation during a public comment session that preceded the vote.
