MORETON Bay Regional Council has refused to say if it has asked controversial anti-fluoridation campaigner Dr Paul Connett to address councillors as they weigh up dropping fluoride from the region’s drinking water.

The council recently heard from two Queensland Health doctors who advocated continued fluoridation.

A MBRC spokesman confirmed a group associated with Professor Connett had asked the council to let him speak to councillors but would give no other details.

Two fluoride opponents have addressed the council’s community comment session in the past two weeks.

Last week Caboolture resident Leigh Hutton argued fluoride was a poison and it may be illegal to put it in water supplies.

He said authorities claimed fluoride had health benefits but the law gave people the right to refuse medical treatment.
