Over 70 million people in 600 districts in 20 states are at risk due to excess fluoride

… The government, for its part, has yet to come up with uniform quality standards for water purifiers in the country. Meantime, as recent studies by the United Nations reveal, over 1 lakh people die in India annually due to waterborne diseases. Over 70 million people in 600 districts in 20 states are at risk due to excess fluoride and around 10 million people are at risk due to excess arsenic in ground water.
