Opponents of fluoridating Portland’s water supply are hosting a public meeting tonight, one day before the Portland City Council is expected to approve the idea.
Clean Water Portland.org invites the public to learn more about the issue, at 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Eliot Chapel of the First Unitarian Church, 1011 S.W. 12th Ave. Featured speaker is Dr. Paul Connett, a coauthor of the book “The Case Against Fluoride,” and cofounder of the website Fluoride Alert.org.
Opponents have asked backers of the measure to participate in a public debate, but were rebuffed, says Charlie White, an activist working to halt fluoridation of Portland’s water supply.
