Looking ahead, Harrisonburg City Council meets this Tuesday and they’ll discuss at least two noteworthy topics. One involves the fluoridation of the city’s water supply. The other might change the city’s rules on party gatherings.

The city is mandated by code to put sodium fluoride in the public water supply; however, there’s a leak in the tank used to store that chemical. Now, the public utilities department is asking council to temporarily repeal the ordinance until they can get it fixed. They’re also putting together an analysis to recommend as to whether the fluoride program should continue. Tank replacement and system updates could cost more than $20,000…

Again, that meeting is this Tuesday, August 9 at 7 p.m. at City Hall on S. Main Street.
