Abstract
[Objective] To investigate the effect of iodine and selenium on learning memory behavior impairment induced by fluorosis and blood biochemical criterion change of rats. To study the antagonism of iodine and selenium on fluorosis. [Methods] After the rats with fluorosis drinking water with different concentrations of iodine ( I) and selenium ( Se) for a long time, their learning memory abilities were measured by way of Y- maze, and the blood biochemical criterions were determined at the same time. [Results] The learning memory abilities of rats in high F group, high I/high F group, and low I/high F group were significantly lower than control group, while the learning memory abilities of rats given proper concentration I and Se increased significantly. The blood biochemical criterions of high F group, high I/high F group, and low I/high F group presented marked differences from that of groups given proper concentration I and Se. [Conclusion] Proper concentration I and Se have obvious antagonism against rat fluorosis. The antagonism may be related with the changes of blood biochemical criterion.

A Scoping Review of Iodine and Fluoride in Pregnancy in Relation to Maternal Thyroid Function and Offspring Neurodevelopment
Iodine (I), an essential nutrient, is important for thyroid function and therefore growth and development. Fluoride (F), also an essential nutrient, strengthens bones and teeth, and prevents childhood dental caries. Both severe and mild-to-moderate I deficiency and high F exposure during development are associated to decreased intelligence quotient with recent

Research on the effects of fluoride on child intellectual development under different environments
Goal: To study the effects of the fluoride and iodine content of drinking water on child intellectual development and the interaction between the two factors and also the relationship of educational factors to such development. Methods: The subjects of the investigation were 8- to 14-year-old children randomly selected from endemic areas as well

Effects of high iodine and high fluorine on children’s intelligence and thyroid function.
Objective: Try to find out the effects of high iodine and high fluorine on children’s intelligence and thyroid function. Methods: We selected in Qingyun County the Lidian Primary School, where the iodine and fluorine in the water are relatively high in concentration as the investigative point and Dading Primary School where the iodine and

[Effects of learning and memory of fluoride and the antagonism of selenium in rats].
Objective: To explore the effects of fluoride in learning and memory changes and the antagonism of selenium by way of animal experiments. Methods: 32 three-week-old SD rats,equal male and female,were randomly divided into four groups.Group1 was fed with deionized water every day;group 2 was given sodium fluoride 20mg/kg by gastric gavage;

Fluoride: Developmental Neurotoxicity.
Developmental Neurotoxicity There has been a tremendous amount of research done on the association of exposure to fluoride with developmental neurotoxicity. There are 78 studies reporting reduced IQ (75 studies with children and 3 studies with adults) and several on the impaired learning/memory in animals. And there are studies which link

The Relationship Between Fluoride Exposure & Goitre in South Africa
As a general rule simple goitre, irrespective of the cause, can be very, or fairly, satisfactorily combated by an adequate increase in man's daily iodine intake, except when the enlargement of the gland is due to the ingestion of excessive amounts of fluorine. The only correct solution to fluorine-induced endemic goitre is the removal of this element from the drinking water.

Fluoride, Water Hardness, and Endemic Goitre
Variations in goitre prevalence were found to correlate closely with the fluoride content (p=0-74; P<0-01) and with the hardness (p=0.77; P<0-01) of the water in each village. The effects of fluoride and water hardness seem to be independent.

Fluoride's Direct Effects on Brain: Animal Studies
The possibility that fluoride ingestion may impair intelligence and other indices of neurological function is supported by a vast body of animal research, including over 40 studies that have investigated fluoride's effects on brain quality in animals. As discussed by the National Research Council, the studies have consistently demonstrated that fluoride, at widely varying concentrations, is toxic to the brain.

Fluoride Exposure Increases Metabolic Requirement for Calcium & Vitamin D
It is well known that individuals with nutrient deficiencies are more susceptible to fluoride toxicity, including fluoride's bone effects. As discussed in the following studies, fluoride increases the skeleton's need for calcium (and vitamin D) by increasing the amount of unmineralized tissue (osteoid) in the bone. When insufficient calcium and
